Farmer’s market in Cadenet
Peasant market, every Saturday morning from May to October.
Traditional markets in the Luberon are places bursting with colors and aromas: pyramids of delicious fruit sit alongside stacks of cheeses and rows of pâtés, fragrant chickens roast on the spit, bunches of peonies bloom, and beautiful fish are artistically laid out on a bed of crushed ice.
When you visit the Cadenet farmers’ market on a Saturday morning, you can truly feel that authentic Provençal atmosphere. Here, you’ll find only local goods and regional French produce. You can meet the producers directly—many of them young farmers who are committed to ethical agriculture. There are no middlemen, no re-sellers, and no imported products. It represents a revival driven by a firm commitment to respecting the land and nature. The farmers often organize tastings and activities around the produce they grow—a wonderful way to share their passion for the land. On the church square, which traditionally doubles as the boules pitch, people gather in the sun at the Café des Boules for a peaceful moment. It truly breathes the spirit of Provence. Markets like Cadenet’s farmers’ market are rare nowadays; it is a market that truly honors local heritage and the village’s identity.
