Travelling to the Luberon by car
Travelling by car in South Luberon means enjoying the freedom to explore each village at your own pace during your holiday! Start by heading towards the ‘Autoroute du Soleil’ (A6/A7)! In fact, there are two ‘Autoroutes du Soleil’, since you first take the A6 motorway as far as Lyon, then the A7 motorway which heads down to Marseille. A true passport to a dream holiday not far from the Mediterranean Sea (just an hour’s drive away), the Autoroute du Soleil (A6/A7) is a very busy route during the summer season. Take the Avignon exit (50 minutes from South Luberon) or Aix-en-Provence (30 minutes from the Luberon).
Getting to Provence by train
Provence is just 3 hours from Paris and only 1 hour 30 minutes from Lyon! Travelling by train to South Luberon means enjoying a fast journey, avoiding traffic jams, endless hours behind the wheel, fatigue and the risks that come with it. Please note: there is no train station in the Luberon. You will need to combine the TGV with a bus or car hire.
- The Aix-en-Provence TGV station is a 36-minute drive from South Luberon (then shuttle + bus)
- The Marseille-Saint-Charles station is a 48-minute drive from South Luberon (then shuttle + bus or TER train)
- The Avignon TGV station is 1 hour 20 minutes by car from South Luberon
Train Marseille > Manosque
It can also be worthwhile to take the connection from Marseille St Charles to Manosque, Gréoux les Bains, bordering South Luberon.
Getting around by bus
One of the easiest ways to enjoy a car-free holiday is to opt for the bus! From the TGV stations, take the shuttle bus to the bus station in Aix-en-Provence.
Find all routes and live information on the ‘La Métropole Mobilité’ app / Purchase and validate your ticket as soon as you board the bus, or on your smartphone by downloading the ‘Leticket’ app.
The shuttle routes Marseille TGV > Aix TGV > Aix-en-Provence bus station:
Route A2 (ex 40): Aix TGV station / Aix-centre, a 30-minute trip
Line 50 : Marseille St Charles bus station (a 4-minute walk from the TGV train station) / Aix-en-Provence bus station, allow 40 minutes for the journey

From the bus station in Aix-en-Provence to the Luberon via Pertuis
Now that you are at the bus station in the city centre of Aix-en-Provence, it’s time to head to the Luberon! To do this, you’ll need to make a stop at Pertuis before taking a ZOU! bus serving the Vaucluse bus stops.
Once you arrive at the bus station in Aix-en-Provence, you have two options:
- Take line 909 : Monday to Saturday (except public holidays) from the bus station at Aix-en-Provence to Cadenet (the bus continues to Apt).
- Take line 923: from Monday to Saturday (except public holidays) to reach Pertuis or La Tour d’Aigues with a connection at Pertuis.
Once in Pertuis, you have two options:
- Line 908: Monday to Saturday (except public holidays) to travel from Pertuis to Cadenet, Villelaure, Ansouis or Cucuron.
- Take line 983 : from Monday to Saturday (excluding public holidays), which allows you to reach 12 towns in the Pays d’Aigues region in South Luberon: Beaumont-de-Pertuis, Cabrières d’Aigues, Grambois, La Bastide des Jourdans, La Bastidonne, La Motte d’Aigues, Mirabeau, Peypin d’Aigues, Saint-Martin-de-la-Brasque, Sannes, Vitrolles en Luberon and La Tour d’Aigues.

How do I book the 923 bus that travels through South Luberon?
- Call +33 4 90 74 20 21 from Monday to Friday, between 8:15 am and 12:15 pm, and from 1:30 pm to 6:00 pm
- Book your journey with the carrier no later than the day before, by 4 pm. For Saturday and Monday, book by 4 pm on Friday. You can also book several journeys at once.
- Your booking will be confirmed during your phone call.
- Arrive at the requested stop a few minutes before your scheduled time. Your ZOU! bus will be waiting for you there!
Good to know: bicycles can be transported on an external rack between La Tour d’Aigues and Aix-en-Provence.
Travelling by plane
By plane, you can choose to arrive at Marseille-Provence airport in Marignane, 60 km from South Luberon (a 45-minute drive), or at Avignon Provence airport, 60 km from South Luberon (a 55-minute drive).
Shuttles and buses from Marseille airport
The Airport Shuttleprovides a daily service (including Sundays and public holidays) between Marseille Provence airport and the Aix-en-Provence bus station, with a stop at the Aix TGV station.À l’aéroport, les quais de départ sont situés à proximité immédiate du terminal 2.
