Just like the Mediterranean diet, the Luberon has all the ingredients of excellent cuisine, including cereals, fruit, vegetables, olives and vineyards. With nearly 2,000 producers, it would be a real shame not to eat local here! The region is a veritable cornucopia, and these crops shape the landscape. Olive groves cling to their ‘restanques’ (dry-stone wall terraces), while the almond trees in full blossom are a spectacular sight in spring. True local institutions, be sure to sample the goat’s cheeses of Provence, honey, cherries, and organic breads made with heritage wheat flours. The Pertuis potato is also prized by Provence locals for its exceptional flavour. And don’t forget to enjoy a delicious aïoli (garlic mayonnaise) on a restaurant terrace or the famous pistou soup at sunset. A whole way of life, packed with flavour and colour!
