Cabrières-d’Aigues is built on a small hill at the southern foot of the Luberon valley.
It was the only Waldensian village and has some very pretty houses. Cabrières was the only fortified village which sheltered the Waldensians from the enemy. The village was destroyed after terrible bloody episodes. Don’t miss the ruins of the castle fort, troglodytic houses, many fountains and Provencal wash-houses, the 18th-century olive oil mill, Saint Laurent church, Notre Dame de Belles Fleurs chapel, the 16th-century ruins of the chapel, Notre Dame d’Entraigues priory and the 16th-century temple.
