Around the fountains, in the shade of plane trees, along picturesque, narrow and winding streets, and across the sun-warmed cobblestones of village squares, each village stands out for its heritage curiosities and unique architecture. Treat yourself to a nature holiday where stone reigns supreme and cicadas, basking in the sun, enchant us with their rhythmic song. Don’t miss the lavender fields from late June to mid-July, sweeping seas of blue and heavenly fragrance that reveal a whole new side of the Luberon.

Savour the Luberon

Just like the Mediterranean diet, the Luberon has all the ingredients of excellent cuisine, including grains, vegetables, olives, honey and wines. With nearly 2,000 producers, it would be a real shame not to eat local here! The region is a veritable cornucopia, and these crops shape the landscape. The olive groves clinging to the restanques (dry stone walls) sit alongside the almond trees with their spectacular spring blossom. A true local institution, be sure to sample the Luberon, AOC wines, goat’s cheeses, cherries and organic breads made with heirloom wheat flours. And don’t forget to try a delicious aïoli (garlic mayonnaise) on a restaurant terrace or the famous pistou soup at sunset. A true Provençal way of life, packed with flavour and colour.
